Super Trent

I just love this picture. Trent has to sleep with a blanket. And, he likes to have it touching his face. After all his tossing and turning, it ends up looking like he has a cape.

We've hit my favorite milestone so far: sleeping through the night. He has been doing it for about a month although I have been reluctant to tell too many people because I thought as soon as I did, he would go back to his middle of the night song-and-dance. He really has not cared for food, However he started really getting into fruit at month 10, which helped him lead into grains and protein, so slowly but surely he is getting on the right track! Our doctor told us not to expect him to sleep through the night until he was eating well... I guess sometimes the Doctors get it right. Sometimes.

Trent is having so much, we have lots of new favorite things:
-Swimming: we've been going twice a week. He loves it!
-Giving hugs
-Favorite toy: it changes every day
-Favorite game: 'Is this a hat?' You put something on your head and ask Trent if it's a hat. He laughs and claps his head. And, if its really a hat, he will leave it on, if not, he will come over and take it off of you! Sometimes, this game is a contact sport.
-Favorite food: Whole wheat spaghetti, raspberries, and broccoli.
-Foods he used to like but now doesn't: Sliced turkey, blueberries and pineapple.
-He loves to make people laugh.
-Still really quiet around big kids
-Yelling, talking, singing and dancing all day.
-A Mom in the playgroup has a pig, turtle, goats, horses... i can't think of any more but there are... And, he loves to holler at those animals.
-He can say, : Mama, Dad and Beau. I also think he is mimicking the neighbor's dog barking.

Trent is always doing something funny, I don't think I have ever laughed as much as I have in the last couple of months. He loves an audience. Going out to dinner is such an outing as T has to talk to each adult that goes by, and stare intently at every kid. He also has an affinity for pretty girls, preferably college aged. We took him to Chico last weekend and T was just chatting up a storm to every girl he saw!

He is turning into quite the little boy. And, he just started to walk. He was cruising around with a little assistance from the furniture for the past two months, taking steps on his own here and there. Then Sunday and today, he just decided, let's do this. And he is off! I have a feeling he is going to make us re-evaluate all the 'baby proofing' we've already done.

I'm a mama.

It's my first Mother's Day. I've never been one to indulge in Hallmark holidays. And now I'm surprisingly invested in this one. it's probably because I'm such a proud mama bear. T-diddy is an alert, sweet, funny yet mischievous little boy. Yup, boy. He is in such a hurry to grow up. He gravitates to the 'older' boys at the park, I'd say 4 and up is his target range. And, he really wants to keep up. Lately we have been going on a walk everyday, in his little safari wagon. Sometimes I feel like a donkey just pulling that thing up and down the rolling hills in our neighborhood, a happy one though. He sings and dances the whole time. T gets quiet when we meet new people and dogs. He studies their faces and watches them walk away, then back to his regular antics. However, when we get to the cows at the top of the hill he hollers and waves his arms like a wild banshee. He loves to talk to his herd. The weekend is filled with pancakes, bbqs, and all things family. It feels like we've settled into a great groove with Mike and his new job. Thank God. Life is simple. I'm content. Dad is happy. And, the little guy is growing like a weed. It is everything I would wish for.

Growing, growing

Trent is a crazy little bean. Today he walked with his walker. I mean he really walked! And, when he got tired he would take a break by standing unsupported! Then, realizing he was unsupported, he promptly sat down and stared at me with this, 'Do you see what just happened to me??' look on his face. He is sure growing. I hate it. I wish I could freeze time. I know that one day he won't need me to get him unstuck when he crawls through our kitchen stools and forgets how to find his way out. But, right now I'm still Mama and I get a HUGE smile when I get him after nap time. Those just make my heart melty. Trent also discovered how to climb the stairs a couple weeks ago! Yikes! Mike has been diligently trying to teach him how to scoot back down the stairs, and tonight he did it! I'd say it took two weeks for him to do it consistently. I mean, he's not up there unsupervised. I usually catch him on step two or three then he'll do his little slither down. That boy. He is a mover and a shaker!

Story Time

We went to story time at the mall. It's free, put on by the local library. You never know how those 'Free to the Public' events will go... Will people be pushy as there are a limited number of everything: snacks, crafts, bean bags, etc?  I always get a little nervous even though I was with seven other mamas from my Mom's group.

Happy to report that all went well. Trent loved the reading time complete with sound effects and dancing. After story time, it was on to crafts. The event was seamless and very well organized. Even the line for the caricature guy was well maintained with snacks and goodie bags. T is a little too young for that, so we just hung out and brought home the makings for the craft. And, I worked my magic on it during nap time.

I think Trent will be pleased. All little guys love dinosaurs. Thank God for the sorority; I had a steady supply of puff paints on hand and lots of practice.

This little boy of mine.

Trent has had the luxury of having the same friends since he was a couple months old. And recently, our little baby playgroup has had to change the title of our group to Baby/Toddler Group. Insert freak out here! So, I guess that it's official.  Trent is no longer a baby. He can cruise the room by holding on to furniture, crawl at light speed and the newest development.... saying Mama and Dada. Of course, Dada came first. But really, everyone knows that first is the worst and second is the best, right?? Yup.

He is so aware of his surrounding. Its fun to take him to new places. Here are some recent photos of our travels and antics:
Trent's first trip to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium

Check out the giants super fans, and our Hotel in the background it was amazing.

A little Easter fun.

Easter fun.

Fun on our runs:We get to see cows, dogs and lots of interesting people!

For reals.

I used to be really good at this 'blog' thing. I can confidently claim that my witty banter and observations about coworkers, friends and quirky family members were moderately entertaining. Then I got pregnant. I would say 'knocked-up' but I'm trying to keep some integrity here. Anyway. I was pregnant and hormonal... And hungry. obviously. I forgot the purpose of the blog. To keep me entertained. I was focused on the baby and 'what the baby would think of how his mom documented a particular moment in time.' And now, here I am babbling in about wet diapers / all serious and heart felt. Which is great to a point, however I forget to tell you about: how I thought that everyone at the gym was checking me out when I walked by. After 60 minutes of feeling like the hottest mama on the block, I realized that they were staring at me because I had baby puke down the back of my shirt. THE WHOLE DANG SHIRT! How did I not notice that?? So, when I sat down to blog I realized, this is what I want to write more of. Yes, baby chatter, etc will still be a permanent fixture here but I need to make an effort to sit down for the ridiculously embarrassing moments because let's be real: I have a real talent for getting myself into awkward situations.
